Sea turtle in Cabarete:
On Saturday April 12 a 6 foot sea turtle appeared on Cabarete Beach to lay it’s eggs.  The gigantic sea turtle swam up to the beach directly in front of the Cabarete Beach’s dining area.  After deciding that the first area ofchoice was not suitable to lay it’s young,  the turtle returned to the water only to appear again eighty seven meters down the beach.  After the local tourism police POLITUR managed to disperse the crowd suffocating the turtle,  she proceeded to bury her eggs.  The local police, with the help of some local restaurant managers,  were able to give the turtle some breathing room by designing a make-shift wall made out of beach chairs.  The plan now being to leave the eggs in their present location until they can be safelty removed and taken care of in a suitable environment.

La vega carnaval is one of the most famous carnavals of the caribean where the people show all the happiness between colors awesome customes, big smiles, music and a whole huge dominican carnaval energy, which take place every sunday of the month of february.

Halloween-07: With locals and tourist meeting  up at the Cabarete bars, it made for a crazy, fun night! Hallowe'en sets the scene for some serious costumes and a wild night. If your hang over's gone check what went down.......

20-10-07/ Cabarete Blu Restaurant: Saturday Nov. 20th marked the re-opening of Cabarete Blu! They introduced a totally new perspective for everyone. A great dinner party included a new menu, new staff, amazing decor and of course impeccable quality and style ! check pictures.

Kitesurfing has exploded onto the sports scene thanks to the ideal wind conidtions in Cabarete. On July 1st, the Kitesurfing World Cup took place at Cabarete beach, including kiters from all over the globe .

It's summer time here in Cabarete and once again the stage was set for the PKRA Kiteboarding World Cup 2007. We were blessed with perfect kite (and party) conditions all week and kiters from all over the world came to join in the fun. Check out pics HERE.

Announcing: Encuentro Martial Arts and Yoga Cabana

We have the approval to build a martial arts and yoga facility overlooking the Playa Encuentro reef breaks. This world class setting will provide the perfect environment to train and practice.

The location is between “the right” and “Bobo’s point”. It will be constructed of natural, environmentally friendly materials. Our design will maximize airflow and the view of the surf breaks.

We are in the planning stage and have an area of 20 x 30 feet for construction. Currently on the planning committee is Ricardo Ripoll, Chino, Pedri and myself. Our goals are to have a preliminary budget and design by Tuesday, October 30th.

Esmeralda Conceptions Organizations (ECO) will be donating the materials along with other sponsors who would like to be involved. Please feel free to post any comments or ideas.

Our next mission will be the completion of the children’s playground adjacent to the newly completed skate ramp.

The grand opening shall be between December 20th and 30th at the Encuentro Charity Surf and Skate Competition. The proceeds will provide gifts and benefits to the local children. There will be a martial arts exhibition, live music, food and a bikini contest.

Cabarete is a action town, filled with a variety of restaurants lining the beach. Important to know!

Taste the Dominican: Once you are in the DR visit the nearest restaurant and try the Dominican Flag (Bandera Dominicana). Made of Rice, Beans and Chicken it is a favourite amongst the locals; don't forget your fried bananas ( Platanos fritos ) !

Important Tip: Try the "Mama Juana" made of diferent types of trees, honey, rum and red wine; also referred to as the "Dominican Viagra". What you think of that, ah? Also used as dessert, good luck!....
